History

Date of Birth: December 20th, 1886
Home: Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, Honshu, Japan
Family: Hori Iekore and Kogoko (parents), Hirahiro (older brother), Sukeyoshi (older brother), Kachi (younger sister)
Second Breath: External Supernatural Trigger (Tamiyo grew up in a poor farming family during the Meiji Restoration era of Japan, but her parents resisted the industrialization and kept their farm; a minor injury on the farm resulted in sepsis infection and Tamiyo perished painfully; she awoke in some place far worse: a hell-factory in the Wicked City; terrified but also determined to escape now, she asserted herself and pleasured the demon guards to escape custody, and slipped out of the factory and Hell while the guards lay about all spent, until the Scarlet Path led her out), 1904
Mentor: Nanbu Narimori
The Test: Trial by Influence (when she dug herself out of her grave, mindless and ravenous, a local Mandarin Crane subdued and restored her; Tamiyo discovered herself back in Nikko, still a small town, but large enough to house the Court of the Old Man, an ancient and respected court of national spirituality; Tamiyo found herself drawn to the Dance of the Thrashing Dragon for its commitment to life's essential force, as growing things appealed to her the most, and her sensei was quite ecumenical as well)
Comrades: Asari Wazuka, Matsuno Isaki, Ouji Eitsu, Rokuda Rie, Cooper Wise
Key Event #1: Awe & Wonder (during her Ré, she met other young gaki and together they formed a Wu simply called the Nikko 5, formed to harvest Urns around the countryside)
Key Event #2: War (when World War II fell, she and her Wu stayed domestic, working to waylay and repel both Gui Ren and Kin-jin who attempted to infiltrate Tokyo)
Key Event #3: Awe & Wonder (after the war when peace came and a whole new crop of Hungry Dead arrived, Tamiyo made a name for herself by embracing her path's tenets but always keeping an open mind, "young at heart", that wanted fresh perspectives; Running Monkeys came to respect her for this Shinto-like passion)
Key Event #4: Awe & Wonder (later, she was granted permission to study abroad in the Flesh Court at Shanghai as part of a diplomatic cultural hand-shake; due to old prejudices, however, she found herself shut out of most regular activity, and so aligned with Bamboo Princes who were still nominally Quincunx, but welcomed outsiders, even gaki, even if meant radicalizing each other; her studies attuned her to the mastery of "the flesh" in particular)
Key Event #5: Awe & Wonder (when the Nikko 5 regathered, she found herself eager to broaden her horizons even further, having secretly joined the Ten Seasons while in China; both she and her sisters had new goals and a new style and approach, so with the Mandarins' permission and minor going-away gifts for the jina, they struck out for San Francisco in the US to bolster their Wan Kuei allies' Great Leap Forward)
Transition: Shift in Nature (but when she arrived, she and her Wu-mates felt inexplicably drawn to a chi'n ta, and this mortal mage was not even Japanese; Tamiyo brazenly approached and seduced him first, leading the entire Wu to his doorstep, and she came to accept it as part of her new approach to the world beyond Nikko)

The P’o

Appearance: Tamiyo finds her P'o infuriating, for it seems to always take the form of a wise old moral lesson-giver, always high on its ethical horse, eager to put a sinner like her in her place.
Trigger: Whenever she fails an activity in which she is (or at least thought she was) particularly skilled at.

Jade Talismans

Green (*)
Appearance: A small, decorative hair pin made of smooth, dark green jade
Origin: Gift

Magical Artifacts

Hoko Doll of the Blessed Matriarch
Appearance: A small doll of the kind given to children or pregnant woman; it's made of silk (the hair is human) and stuffed with cotton; the doll-sized one-piece kimono is blue with white patterns
Origin: Gift
Effects: 1) so long as it's in her possession, it improves vampiric fertility (reduced Yang Chi costs) and guarantees the child will be born unless the owner flies into fire or wave soul (shadow soul may be safe, presuming the Demon doesn't deliberately cause harm to the fetus while in control)
Activation: It does not extend its blessing until the owner has held it consecutively in her possession for at least a year first; it also works only for Kuei-jin who can be pregnant (this includes those who use a Rite or Art to change sexes); it offers no benefit to anyone else, not even dhampyrs

Weakness
The Life

This is the life, the Second Breath. Tamiyo intends to live it and live it well. She knows there will be no third chance, no Third Breath. She has learned not to hesitate when it comes to preserving above all what is most important: her life.

Likelihood of Corruption

Average.

Though a consummate predator, she cherishes life, and celebrates its sacrifice and transformations. However, she also does not hesitate to kill when she must, a quality of which the wicked especially approve.
